History

JSK 404 was manufactured in late 1959 and shipped from Royal Victoria Dock, London to Kiangsons Trading Company, a dealer in Taiwan.

Documented history for the car starts in 1989 where it was sold by Greggory D Maynard of Austin, TX to Motorcars of Distinction, 1109 Cedar Park Dr, Cedar Park Texas 78613. US registration 550 ZEZ. The car was then imported from the USA (Austin, Texas) by Mr B Standen of Crowthorne, Berkshire, UK on 1st October 1990.

The car was purchased and subsequently first registered for use in the UK on 1st July 1991 by Mr Chapman of Stroud, Gloucestershire, and given the age related number plate JSK 404. The car was repainted in British Racing Green from its original Powder Blue, and the interior trimmed in tan vinyl with green piping in 1993 with the interior trim supplied by K Ford Upholstery, Worcester. On 9th August 2011 recommissioning was undertaken by Coppice Hill Restorations including a complete overhaul of the braking system.

The car remained in Mr Chapmans possession until May 31st 2014 when it was purchased by myself.

JSK 404 has now undergone a comprehensive restoration by Watermill Carriage Co Ltd including RHD conversion with original steering box and retrimmed steel dashboard, full engine rebuild (including 87mm pistons giving a capacity of 2187cc), refitting a reconditioned A Type overdrive (2nd, 3rd, 4th gear) to a reconditioned 3-synchro gearbox,  new clutch kit, rewire,  general overhaul of the chassis, suspension, steering and braking systems, and new wet weather protection. All in all 255 hours of labour and over £9000 worth of parts went into the restoration.

    • Hi, I believe it’s a Fiat colour but I don’t have the paint code I’m afraid. I need some work to be completed over the winter – the brake fluid reservoir has leaked and stripped the paint from the bulkhead so I will be having the paint matched. If you’re not in a hurry to paint your car I’ll post back up here with the code to mix it.
